“No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other…”
— Matthew 6:24
Satan knows he can’t get the whole world to worship him.
But he doesn’t need to.
Because if he can’t make you worship him,
he’ll make sure you worship yourself.
And for most people… that’s enough.
⸻
The Religion of Self Is Satan’s Masterpiece
The devil doesn’t always appear with horns.
He often appears as a mirror.
“Do what makes you happy.”
“Follow your heart.”
“Live your truth.”
“You are enough.”
It sounds harmless.
Even empowering.
But it’s deadly.
Because Jesus never said “find yourself.”
He said:
“Deny thyself.” (Luke 9:23)
⸻
You Are Not Your Own God
The gospel doesn’t call you to improve yourself.
It calls you to die to yourself.
But the spirit of the age says:
Indulge yourself
Exalt yourself
Justify yourself
And when that becomes your truth —
you no longer need Satan to drag you down.
You’re doing it to yourself.
Self-worship is the devil’s most elegant deception.
Because you never see it coming.
⸻
You Will Serve Something
Everyone serves a god.
The only question is which one:
God calls you to die to sin
Satan says sin is freedom
Jesus calls you to pick up your cross
The world says your cross is trauma to avoid
Christ offers life after death
Culture offers death while pretending it’s life
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey,
his servants ye are…” (Romans 6:16)
You can’t worship Christ and self.
You can’t follow Jesus and your heart.
You can’t live for the Kingdom while building your own.
⸻
The False Gospel of Self Will Damn Many
In the last days, Paul warned people would be:
“Lovers of their own selves…” (2 Timothy 3:2)
And we see it everywhere:
Self-love is a doctrine
Self-care is religion
Self-expression is sacred
And “God” becomes a tool to bless your desires, not break them
This isn’t spirituality.
It’s idolatry.
And it’s not just outside the church.
It’s in it.
⸻
The Truth Hurts Before It Heals
The real Gospel doesn’t tell you to “be yourself.”
It tells you to crucify yourself. (Galatians 2:20)
Not in shame.
But in surrender.
Because only in death to self
can resurrection power begin.
You will serve something.
And if it isn’t Christ…
it’s either Satan,
or your own reflection —
which for him, is just as good.
Truth, Doc. The elevation of the "self" is running rampant.
