Hell is a choice.
Jesus is your salvation...
Hell is not God dragging people away from Him.
It is people choosing eternity without Him.
“And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light.”
— John 3:19
⸻
People Think God Throws Innocent Souls Into Fire
Most people imagine hell as God angrily casting otherwise good people into torment.
But Scripture paints a far deeper picture.
Hell is not merely punishment.
It is separation.
Complete separation from the presence, goodness, peace, mercy, truth, and light of God.
Every good thing people enjoy on earth ultimately comes from Him:
Love
Beauty
Joy
Peace
Meaning
Warmth
Hope
Mercy
Even unbelievers still breathe in a world flooded by God’s grace.
The sun still rises on the wicked and the righteous alike.
“For He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good.”
— Matthew 5:45
But what happens when someone eternally rejects the source of all goodness itself?
What remains?
⸻
Hell Is What Existence Looks Like Without God
People say:
“I want nothing to do with God.”
Scripture shows God eventually honors that decision.
Hell is existence cut off from the light.
No peace.
No comfort.
No rest.
No truth.
No joy.
Because all those things come from Him.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.”
— James 1:17
Hell is not God removing goodness from a place.
God IS goodness.
To reject Him completely is to reject the only source of life itself.
⸻
The Doors of Hell Are Locked From the Inside
Many people spend their lives running from God:
Mocking Him
Rejecting Him
Rebelling against Him
Loving sin more than truth
Then suddenly accuse Him of cruelty when eternity reflects the very separation they spent their lives choosing.
God does not force love.
Forced love is not love at all.
From Genesis to Revelation, humanity is given choice.
The terrifying reality is that many choose darkness willingly.
“Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
— John 3:19
Notice the wording.
Not trapped in darkness.
Not deceived into darkness.
Loved darkness.
⸻
Sin Separates Humanity From God
The problem is deeper than bad behavior.
Sin corrupts.
It separates mankind from a holy God.
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God.”
— Isaiah 59:2
Modern culture treats sin lightly.
Scripture does not.
Sin destroys marriages.
Families.
Nations.
Souls.
And every human being carries it.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23
Hell is not proof God is evil.
Hell is proof sin is deadly.
⸻
Jesus Spoke More About Hell Than Anyone
Ironically, the One who warned most about hell was Jesus Himself.
The same Christ who healed the sick, forgave sinners, and wept for Jerusalem also spoke of:
Outer darkness
Weeping and gnashing of teeth
Eternal fire
Separation
Judgment
Why?
Because He was warning people before it was too late.
A doctor who never warns about disease is not loving.
Neither is a preacher who never warns about destruction.
⸻
The Cross Was God’s Rescue Mission
If God simply wanted humanity destroyed, there would have been no cross.
No nails.
No crown of thorns.
No blood poured out for sinners.
The cross proves God desires salvation, not destruction.
“The Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
— 2 Peter 3:9
Christ stepped into human suffering to make reconciliation possible.
The door remains open.
But God will not drag people into eternity with Him against their will.
⸻
The Real Horror of Hell
The flames are terrifying.
But the deeper horror is separation from God forever.
No more grace.
No more mercy.
No more opportunities to repent.
Only eternal existence apart from the One who is life itself.
That is why Scripture describes hell as darkness.
Because every trace of His light is absent.
⸻
There Is Still Time
Right now, the world still experiences God’s mercy daily.
Every heartbeat is proof of patience.
Every sunrise is proof of grace.
But the invitation will not remain forever.
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
— John 8:12
Christ is not merely offering religion.
He is offering rescue from separation itself.

A really moving piece. Excellent telling of hell’s pleasures. Thirst. Stench.
What you are will determine your suffering.
And, to think people could have chosen differently. A bit of humility & an ounce of common sense, but to reject God and Heaven? Unthinkable.
Glad you’re back! 🙏
