“Men shall be lovers of their own selves…”
— 2 Timothy 3:2
We often think the final deception will come through a false messiah, a world government, or a microchipped system.
But long before the Antichrist rises…
the spirit of Antichrist is already here —
and it lives in the mirror.
Self-worship is the most ancient idol.
The serpent didn’t promise Adam and Eve pleasure, wealth, or comfort.
He promised them godhood.
“Ye shall be as gods…” (Genesis 3:5)
That lie is alive again.
And it’s dressed in affirmation, empowerment, and “finding your truth.”

The Age of Self Is a Prophetic Sign
Paul didn’t say the last days would be full of atheists.
He said they’d be full of lovers of self.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves…” (2 Timothy 3:1–2)
The love of self comes first —
before pride, rebellion, blasphemy, and hatred of good.
It’s the root sin behind all the others.
And today, we baptize it in therapy language.
We spiritualize it with self-care and self-love doctrines.
But the cross doesn’t ask you to find yourself.
It tells you to crucify yourself.
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself…” (Luke 9:23)

The Digital Mirror: A World Obsessed with Image
Social media didn’t invent narcissism — it amplified it.
Filters reshape reality
Bios become altars
Likes become validation
Opinions become law
Feelings become gods
People don’t want truth.
They want a truth that looks like them.
Even worship has become self-centered:
Songs about what God does for me
Sermons about unlocking my potential
Altars that call for blessing, not brokenness
This is not revival.
It’s religion made in man’s image.
⸻
Self-Worship Will Make People Worship the Beast
The Antichrist won’t demand loyalty from humble hearts.
He will appeal to pride.
He will mirror people’s desires.
He will offer unity, empowerment, and “the next step in human evolution.”
He won’t look evil.
He will look familiar.
“He shall magnify himself in his heart… and by peace shall destroy many.” (Daniel 8:25)
The world will follow him not because he conquers…
but because he reflects them.
And they’ll worship him because deep down…
they’ve been worshiping themselves all along.

What Does This Mean for Us?
You can’t love Jesus and still sit on your own throne.
You can’t carry a cross and a selfie stick.
You can’t be full of the Spirit and full of yourself.
The last days will be full of people who claim Christ —
but live for their own image.
This is the spirit of Antichrist.
And it must be crucified.
Now.
Not later.
Before the real one arrives.
I both agree and disagree. I’m not saying we should be selfish—definitely not. But when the Bible says “Love your neighbour as yourself,” to me it means we must first know and love ourselves in order to truly love others. That feels a little contradictory at times, and I’m still trying to understand it fully. I just pray God opens this up for me and helps me see both passages clearly.
Practice selflessness is the only way.
